Albania, a bold (or reckless?) pioneer, has taken a step that no one expected so soon. Diella, formerly a simple administrative assistant, is now Minister of Public Procurement, with a clear mandate: to eradicate corruption. Initially, Diella was tasked with helping people with their administrative procedures. Thanks to her rationality, she was highly successful, hence her appointment. Clearly, the aim is to crack down on corruption, which is commonplace in public procurement. No more bribes, backroom deals and partisan decisions.
Prime Minister Edi Rama presented her as the first ‘member of the cabinet not to be physically present, but created virtually by AI’. Although the details of how she will function and her ability to actually ‘govern’ have not been disclosed, she rings in the dawn of a new era.
