Here are the best applications of 2020 according to Google and Apple

In a year marked by a pandemic, indoor applications are logically the big winners of 2020. The list of winners will not surprise you.

As tradition dictates, December is the month chosen by manufacturers to look back on the past year. Not surprisingly, Apple and Google unveiled their selections of the best applications of 2020 a few hours apart. This will give you a few ideas for your next visit to the App Store or Play Store.

Apple rewards Zoom, Disney+ and sports

Let's start with the Apple winners. The Californian brand decided to elect one application per product category to maximize the number of winners.

On the iPhone, Wakeout won the prize for the best application. Designed by an independent developer, this software allows you to exercise from the comfort of your own home through small, easy-to-understand sessions. In the midst of a pandemic, its victory will come as no surprise. For example, Wakeout encourages you to turn your pillows into alters for stretching. Clever.

On the iPad, the winner is even less surprising. The Zoom software, which is no longer being presented, wins the prize for the best application. Thanks to Covid-19, Zoom has gone from being a small application reserved for businesses to a must-have for the general public. It is difficult not to reward it.

On Apple TV, it was Disney+ that Apple decided to designate the best application of the year. It's true that if the SVOD service is not revolutionary, its success has been more than lightning in 2020. Disney+ may compete with Apple TV+, but the Californian decided to be fair and welcome the arrival of his rival.

Finally, on the Mac, the Fantastical software which replaces the MacOS calendar has been designated by Apple. On Watch, Endel was chosen. This application helps to find sleep.

A long selection at Google

At Google, the best application of 2020 is called Loona. Thanks to mini-games and moods, it helps you take care of yourself and relax. Its cartoon-inspired interface is in any case very appealing.

Other applications have been chosen by Google, which prefers selection to the naming of real winners. These include Zoom and Disney+ but also Grid Diary, an interactive diary and many relaxation applications. Google's selection is quite long, we recommend you go directly to it using the link at the bottom of this article.

The applications selected by Apple and Google should be featured on the App Store and the Play Store in the coming weeks. Let's hope that 2021 will once again encourage us to go out and that tourism, dating and outdoor sports applications will once again take the lead!
