Huawei may start selling other manufacturers' smartphones in its stores:

While Huawei is facing significant restrictions due to U.S. sanctions, the Chinese brand is reportedly currently considering selling smartphones from other manufacturers in its physical stores.

According to a leaker on Weibo, a smartphone codenamed "Monica" will be launched by the end of the month and put on sale in Huawei stores. The latter should be offered from August 20, but it is not known at this time what smartphone it is or what the name of the manufacturer is.

Another informant would have gone even further by saying that there are three new products that should be launched and could be sold by the distribution network of Huawei. The smartphones should join the new P50 and P50 Pro in the stores of the Chinese manufacturer.

WHY WOULD HUAWEI MARKET A COMPETITOR'S SMARTPHONE?

Huawei has been hamstrung for a few years now by U.S. sanctions, which prevent it from using U.S. technologies in its smartphones. As a result, we had recently learned that Huawei has seen its revenue drop by 29% from 2020. It could be that Huawei is looking to make a profit by selling its competitors' smartphones, rather than just selling its own devices.

Moreover, it is possible that the smartphones in question use Huawei's technologies, such as Kirin chips or its new Harmony OS 2.0 operating system, which the manufacturer uses on its latest smartphones. We know, for example, that the upcoming Nokia X60 Pro could be one of the first third-party smartphones to use HarmonyOS rather than Android. We'll have to wait until August 20 to find out more about this mysterious smartphone named "Monica".

Huawei could therefore rely on its competitors to make profits in the short term. However, we could well see a strong comeback of the Chinese manufacturer on the smartphone market with the Mate 50 Pro in 2022, since Huawei would have already found a way to circumvent the American sanctions to produce its phone. Even if the manufacturer is still deprived of chips, Huawei still hopes to become number 1 in the world.
