Huawei P50 Pro: discover the design of the smartphone before time

The Huawei P50 Pro continues to be the talk of the town. Several weeks before the announcement, a famous leaker published a series of renders showing the design of the smartphone. Unsurprisingly, we can see a holey screen with slightly curved edges and a huge camera block on the back. This time, Huawei is banking on an egg-shaped block with rounded edges.

Last time I checked, Huawei will be offering the P50 range in three different models: a standard P50, a P50 Pro and a P50 Pro+. This last edition, ultra high-end, should be reserved for the Chinese market. In Europe, Huawei will only sell the other two variants on the market.

According to the leaks, the P50 Pro is pulling its weight thanks to a 120Hz screen, 66W wired fast charging, 55W wireless charging and a Kirin 9000 SoC (the same chipset as the Mate 40). While the device's spec sheet has been widely leaked over the past few months, the design has remained a mystery until now.

HUAWEI BETS ON AN EGG-SHAPED PHOTO BLOCK

After weeks of leaks, a reputable tipster has come to lift the veil on the design of the Huawei P50 Pro. OnLeaks, a reputable informer of the smartphone galaxy, has indeed published several 3D renders showing what the Chinese flagship looks like. The leaker had already shared a preliminary render of the P50 Pro in late December.

According to the tipster, the P50 Pro is covered by a glass back and encircled by a metal frame with flat edges. The terminal is built around a 6.6-inch display with slightly curved edges. The touchscreen is encircled by particularly thin borders. The chin, the bottom edge, has been drastically reduced compared to the previous generation.

On the back, Huawei opts for a camera block that "comes in the form of a massive egg-shaped bump," notes OnLeaks. Unfortunately, the leaker does not reveal the full design of the camera. This device is expected to house the largest camera sensor ever designed for a smartphone. Incidentally, the P50 Pro will feature a fingerprint reader under the screen. For the record, Huawei will introduce the P50s sometime in late March 2021.
