Mobile: Samsung announces the upcoming release of a fully transparent smartphone

South Korean giant Samsung is pushing the bar a little further in the development of the latest generation of smartphones. It is expected to develop a fully transparent smartphone in the near future, which will offer visibility all the way to the back of the phone. The information was unearthed by the Let's Go Digital site, which found the patent applied for and obtained by Samsung from the USPTO, the US Patent and Trademark Office.

According to the site that quotes the patent description, it could be a rigid or flexible screen that can be folded or rolled up. In view of the complexity of finding the whole of fully transparent components such as cameras, batteries or SIMS cards, the patent mentions the possibility of having a smartphone whose screen would be only partially transparent.

The idea of a fully transparent smartphone has been gaining ground for many years. Sony had already developed a prototype of a transparent smartphone with a double-sided screen. Only, Samsung's idea goes further by not integrating any border on its screen. In the wake of this, companies such as the Japanese NTT have already developed and presented prototypes of batteries that are completely transparent like glass.

Still in the register of fully transparent devices, the Chinese Xiaomi has just launched its fully transparent television. Only, the processing units of this television are housed in the base of the television.
