Warning: do not use an unknown person's smartphone charger

Forgot your smartphone charger? Do not ask anyone for his or her own and avoid public charging stations. Why? Why?
Because hackers can insert malware into cables to take remote control of devices.

Be careful if you borrow a smartphone charger, it could be trapped. Charles Henderson, director of IBM's X-Force Red security team, issues the alert. He explains that the chargers' cables can house malware, which can allow hackers to take control of the devices connected to them. "In a computer context, sharing cables is like sharing your password, because that's the level of access you transmit in a crucial way with this type of technology," he explains in comments relayed by Forbes (via Capital).
